Bainbridge High evacuated after bomb scare

Bainbridge High School was evacuated just before lunch Thursday after a bomb threat was discovered on campus by school staff.

School staff said a threatening message was found in a girls’ bathroom in the 200 Building.

Bainbridge police said the bomb threat was written in marker, but also said, “I have a gun and know how to use it.”

The message was discovered about 10 a.m. Thursday.

School officials decided to release the students for the day as police continued to search the BHS campus.

Bainbridge officers, assisted by the Washington State Patrol and canine units, were still searching the high school after noon.

The evacuation left traffic at a near standstill on streets around the high school, leading to long backups on High School Road and Madison Avenue.
