The Bainbridge Island City Council may seal the deal on marijuana regulations during this week’s meeting.

A final public hearing will be held Monday to go over regulations for pot businesses on Bainbridge.

Last month, the council approved an ordinance with a six-month sunset date that would have placed marijuana retail businesses in neighborhood service centers at Lynwood Center, Rolling Bay and Island Center.

It would have also placed energy requirements on grow productions.

But the council has worked quick this month to hone the temporary ordinance in response to complaints that Rolling Bay was a poor choice for a retail pot shop.

If the council votes to approve new amendments Monday, Bainbridge’s marijuana law will be finalized and its six month, automatic expiration will be removed.

With the revisions, marijuana retail will move to the Day Road business-industrial zone along with growing and processing businesses.

Renewable energy requirements for marijuana-growing operations — whcih some criticized would have been overbearingly expensive to implement and showed discrimination against one type of business — will also be removed.

The city may request documentation or monitoring reports on energy consumption, however.

The public hearing on marijuana regulations is the first item on Monday’s city council agenda.

The Bainbridge Island City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday.
