Bainbridge blotter | Wine + driving = jail

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, MARCH 29

10:52 a.m. A package containing about $200 worth of automotive parts was reportedly stolen from a private residence near Manual Road.

The box was from Amazon, and the delivery service confirmed it had been dropped off.

5:52 p.m. Bainbridge police arrested a 51-year-old Kingston woman for driving while intoxicated. She was seen by police swerving repeatedly and driving over the fog line.

The woman initially claimed she had not had anything to drink that day, but said she did take prescription medication for her back. When asked for an insurance card, the woman offered her Social Security card and a disability card.

When asked to complete a field sobriety test, the woman said she was physically disabled and could not walk or stand without assistance. Asked once more by a second officer, the woman admitted to having had wine earlier in the day.

When tested by breathalyzer, the woman showed a BAC of .284. She was arrested.
