Bainbridge blotter | Threatening ex-husband

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 2

1:28 p.m. A 27-year-old Bainbridge woman came to the police station seeking advice about how best to handle the escalating behavior of her abusive ex-husband.

The woman said her ex has a history of violent behavior and had abused her physically when they lived in another country. When he drank, she said, he would hit her and choke her with a belt.

Lately, the woman said, her ex has been calling her and threatening her, believing she is responsible for his visa being denied.

The couple has a child together, the woman said, and she fears her ex might take the child to his home country.

Though he does not know where she lives now, the woman said, her ex does know where her parents live, which is where he called her threatening, “You’ll pay for it if I don’t get my visa.”

The woman said she fears he may kill her if his immigration status is denied.

The woman was advised to call 911 if her ex approaches her, or calls again, and to seek a protection order in court, as well. She was also provided local resource information regarding domestic violence programs.
