Bainbridge blotter | Skateboard rider hits car

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 2

8:18 p.m. A two-car collision of Madison Avenue North and Wyatt Way resulted in heavy damage but no injuries.

A 2017 Nissan Versa, driven by a 65-year-old Alaska man, traveling east, failed to stop at the intersection and struck a 2005 Ford F15 pickup, driven by a 44-year-old Poulsbo man, who was already partially through the crossing.

There were no skid marks to indicate rapid acceleration or braking, and the amount of damage indicated to police the car had not started from a properly stopped position.

MONDAY, SEPT. 3

1:10 p.m. A 15-year-old Bainbridge Island boy was injured after he collided with a car while riding his skateboard.

The boy was riding south on Ericksen Avenue and was going too fast to stop at the sign at the intersection of Ericksen and Winslow Way. He tried instead to turn quickly, but ran into 2011 Chevy Traverse, driven by a 46-year-old Seattle man, who immediately stopped to assist the boy.

Paramedics arrived to examine the skateboarder, and his parents were called to the scene. It was determined his injures were minor and he was not transported. The car’s passenger door was damaged.

The driver and the skateboarder’s parents exchanged information.
