Bainbridge blotter | Political support goes flat

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 1

11:31 p.m. A 20-year-old Bainbridge Island woman’s car was vandalized in the Safeway parking lot.

One tire had the valve cap removed and was flattened when the woman, a store employee, returned to her vehicle after ending her shift.

The valve stem had obviously been recently removed, police said, as there was no dirt in the threads. All three of the other tires had valve caps, and they were fully inflated.

The woman said she’d received a note on her car a few weeks earlier and thought the incidents were probably related.

The note, which the woman had saved, read: “I just wanted to let you know that someone vanalized (sp) your car by slapping an Obama sticker on it. The last thing you want to be doing is driving around all day looking like an idiot. Take care, A Good Samaritan.”

The woman did have a bumper sticker supporting Barack Obama on her car.
