Bainbridge blotter | Plug pulled on prank

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, DEC. 7

7:20 a.m. Police were called to the Bainbridge Island School District transit center in response to an incident of malicious mischief.

The facility manager told police she’d arrived to find the gate would not open. It had been locked shut with three bike locks; two U-bar-style locks and one cable lock.

Staff were forced to use an acetylene torch to cut the locks.

The manager said she was the first to arrive that day, and she had no leads or idea who might have done it, other than a student hoping to get school canceled.

The motor belt broke while attempting to open the gate before the manager noticed the locks, which was valued at $6.

A report was filed.
