Bainbridge blotter | Off the road and ‘possibly intoxicated’

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 7

5:55 p.m. While driving south onto North Madison Avenue from Valley Road, a 74-year-old Bainbridge Island man took the turn too widely and drove off the road and into a ditch on the west side of the roadway.

While investigating the incident, police determined “that he was possibly intoxicated.”

Witnesses saw the driver, in 2006 Audi S4, stop at the intersection and then proceed into the turn, taking it too widely. As the car went into the ditch, it struck a glancing blow to a nearby wooden utility pole, which was undamaged.

When the Audi at last hit the bottom of the ditch, the lower front end of the vehicle was damaged.
