Bainbridge blotter | Not in my name

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

TUESDAY, JUNE 5

8:46 a.m. A 37-year-old Bainbridge Island woman reported a cell phone account had been fraudulently opened in her name.

She received a call from a Sprint representative about an unpaid bill. The woman said she had never opened a Sprint account, “or any other account similar.”

She reported the fraud and was asked to file a report with the police, which she did.

9:23 a.m. A bicycle was apparently stolen from the garage of an apartment on Vineyard Lane.

The owner, a 73-year-old woman, said the bike belonged to her husband, who had parked it in the garage after using it the previous afternoon. He returned later and found it missing, she said.

The bike was not secured with a lock or chain, and the side access door to the garage, for walk-in access, was unlocked.

Nothing else was found to be missing.

The bike was estimated to be worth about $400.

3:05 p.m. A Stihl Magnum BR600 blower was found on the side of Weaver Road.

Police checked and found no reports of any such property reported missing or stolen.
