Bainbridge blotter | Nobody gets a brake

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 12

3:57 p.m. Police were called to Sportsman Club Road, near the business park, in response to a car collision.

A 26-year-old Bremerton man drove his 2004 Ford pickup truck into the rear of a 1997 Nissan Altima, driven by a 25-year-old Bainbridge man.

The driver said he was trying to stop for traffic, but his brakes suddenly didn’t work.

There were no injuries.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 13

10:28 a.m. A 90-year-old Bainbridge woman drove her 2007 Chevy Cobalt into two other cars while attempting to park.

The woman was trying to park in the lot behind the Winslow post office. She pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, she later said, and drove over a sidewalk, through a chain link fence and struck two unoccupied vehicles parked nearby.

There were no injuries.
