Bainbridge blotter | Mystery package

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, MARCH 29

6:09 p.m. Police were called to a home in the area of Bill Point Crest to retrieve a suspicious package.

The homeowner said that a postal carrier had delivered the package, which was at the time sitting on her porch. The package was in fact labeled with the woman’s actual address, though it had someone else’s name on it. The return address was the same as the delivery address.

Police arrived and took custody of the package, then called the postal inspector who said the homeowner refused to accept delivery of the box and suggested the police dispose of it, as there was no way to learn where it had come from.

Police ascertained the package was safe to open and did so. it contained some wine glasses and a vase. The items were taken to the station for disposal.
