Bainbridge blotter | Mercedes driver doesn’t get a brake

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SATURDAY, MAY 18

11:28 p.m. A two-car crash on Ericksen Avenue resulted in damage to both vehicles but no injuries.

A 67-year-old Bainbridge woman driving a 2010 Mercedes was traveling north on Ericksen Avenue and had come to stop at the Wyatt Way intersection. Behind her, a 34-year-old Bainbridge woman in a 2018 Subaru failed to realize the other car had stopped and began breaking too late. She smacked the rear of the other vehicle, causing damage to both cars.

The drivers exchanged insurance information in front of police and both declined medical assistance.

Both cars were driven from the scene.

MONDAY, MAY 20

11:47 a.m. A 56-year-old Bainbridge Island man was arrested at his home. He had two outstanding warrants, one for assault in Poulsbo and one for driving with a suspended license from Kitsap County.

Police arrived at the man’s home and told him of the warrants. He invited them inside, grabbed his wallet and shoes and was allowed to contact his wife and son before being taken into custody.

He was transported to the Kitsap County Jail without incident.
