Bainbridge blotter | Lexus gets it in the end

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, JULY 7

4:23 p.m. A 38-year-old Bainbridge Island woman reported the violation of a protection order. The man, she said, emailed her in reaction to the protection order. The email was not threatening, and the order, police said, did not technically prohibit electronic or phone contact by the man specifically.

The woman said she’d instructed the man to only contact her lawyer, and police advised she call 911 to report any additional contact, of any kind, by the man so as to establish a pattern of harassment, should any occur.

They then called the man to reiterate the woman’s request he only contact her lawyer. He said he understood.

6:38 p.m. Police came upon two cars on the side of the road in the area of Highway 305 and Sportsman Club Road. They approached the drivers and learned a collision had just occurred, and an exchange of information was happening.

A 2009 Lexus RX350, driven by a 63-year-old Seabeck woman, had been rear-ended by a 2007 Honda Pilot, driven by a 27-year-old Richland woman.

As the Lexus was headed north on 305, the driver said, she’d slowed for traffic and was struck from behind. Her vehicle was damaged in the rear bumper area.

The woman driving the Honda said she’d “all of a sudden” noticed traffic had stopped ahead of her and was unable to stop in time. She was cited for inattentive driving. Her vehicle suffered front end damage and was towed from the scene.

No injuries were reported.
