Bainbridge blotter | Honking hit-and-run

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SATURDAY, JAN. 12

5:35 p.m. Police were called to a minor hit-and-run in the parking lot of a gas station at the intersection of NE New Brooklyn Road and Fletcher Bay Road.

A 2013 Volkswagen GTI, driven by a 52-year-old Bainbridge man, paused, waiting for a second car to back out of a parking spot. The other car reversed and came very close to the Volkswagen, so the man began backing up in an attempt to avoid being hit.

The other car kept coming back, however, so the Volkswagen driver honked his horn to warn the other driver, but to no avail. The reversing car struck the front right corner of the Volkswagen, then left the parking lot and drove away.

The man’s car suffered minor finish damage in the front right corner.
