Bainbridge blotter | Hit-and-run in Winslow

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

MONDAY, OCT. 29

12:48 p.m. Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run at the intersection of Ericksen Avenue and Wallace Way, where a vehicle had struck a power box sometime during the night.

Debris from the car and a set of tire tracks were left behind, and the power box had been pushed off its base.

The damage was photographed.

Later, police were called by a local resident who had been working late that night and heard the commotion, went out to check and saw the car that hit the box. The driver, he said, appeared impaired. He claimed the driver was a young man, who had been inspecting the damage to the box and his car but who jumped back inside and took off when he saw the other man approaching.

Police contacted several auto body shops in the area and asked them to report any vehicles that suffered similar damage that may be brought in for repair.
