10:10 a.m. A man crashed his 2015 Subaru while trying to help an elderly woman who was being threatened by a large dog.

The 44-year-old Puyallup man was driving north on Crystal Springs Drive when he saw a woman walking who was facing off with a large, aggressive dog. The man pulled into the oncoming lane of the road in an attempt to scare the dog away.

When the canine didn’t run off, the man stopped and jumped out of his vehicle.

After chasing the dog, he turned to see his vehicle go over the embankment and onto the beach. He said he had gotten out without putting the vehicle in park.

The car was towed off the beach.
