Bainbridge blotter | Bad choice by teen driver

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 21

7:23 a.m. A two-car collision at the intersection of Highway 305 and Reitan Road resulted in both vehicles being towed, but no injuries.

A 16-year-old Bainbridge Island girl driving a 2002 Volvo was trying to make the left turn onto the highway from Reitan Road. She saw a break in southbound traffic, she said, and made the turn and was struck by a 2006 Toyota 4Runner, driven by a 29-year-old Bainbridge Island man, which she did not see coming.

The Volvo spun counterclockwise across the road and hit the guardrail on the southbound shoulder, sustaining damage to the driver’s side rear axle and its rear end. The Toyota was damaged in the front, especially the left front corner.

Both drivers were uninjured.

Both vehicles were towed.

The girl was cited for inattentive driving.
