Bainbridge Island has been selected to receive more than $400,000 in federal funds for two transportation projects: solving the erosion threatening areas of Rockaway Beach and construction of a paved shoulder for non-motorized traffic on Madison Avenue between State Route 305 and Valley Road.

The projects are a small portion of $388 million in federal money awarded to the Puget Sound region.

The projects are expected to happen in 2011 and 2012.
