The Bainbridge Island School District Board unanimously approved a two-percent reduction of the Bainbridge Island Principals' Association 2009-2010 compensation packages at Thursday's meeting.

The School District's building and central office administrators have also taken the voluntary cut, saving the School District a total of $40,000.

Principals and administrators will either undergo a salary reduction or will donate two percent of their salaries to the School District.

"It demonstrates a commitment to education on Bainbridge Island," board member John Tawresey said.
