The second of two public meetings on the potential transfer of Fort Ward and Fay Bainbridge state parks is scheduled for Tuesday evening.

The State Parks and Recreation Commission is urging the transfer of both properties to the Bainbridge Metropolitan Park and Recreation District.

The park district board has not made a decision and is using meetings to gauge public sentiment regarding the transfer. The park district will likely make a decision at a meeting in August.

A first meeting was held July 7 and opinions in the audience were evenly split on the issue.

The second meeting will take place 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Bainbridge Commons on Brien Drive (see map below).
