The City’s Public Works Engineering Department is adjusting counter service hours at City Hall as a result of staff reductions.

Beginning Tuesday May 26, staff will be available to assist drop-in customers at the counter from between 8 a.m. and noon all week.

All customers are encouraged to call 842-2016 to schedule appointments prior to arrival.

The department is also implementing an automated phone contact system to allow customers more direct access to city employees.

Both the Public Works and the Planning and Community Development departments at the city are in the middle of a restructuring effort.

Parts of the overhaul include developing more user-friendly permit applications, revising and improving design and construction standards, and restructuring capital bid documents and bidding processes.

City Hall will also be closed on Friday for a staff furlough day and will reopen on Tuesday.

For more information on the new counter hours and other Public Works activities, please contact City Engineer Robert Earl, P.E. at 206-842-2016 for more information.
