Kitsap Daily susended

Sound Publishing Inc. will suspend publication of the Kitsap Free Daily after almost four years of operation, effective Saturday, Nov. 1.

“We are temporarily suspending publication of the Free Daily to focus on our core products in Kitsap County,” said Lori Maxim, vice president of West Sound Newspaper Operations. “The Daily is a fantastic product but we have decided to shift our focus to continue development of our online products and the community newspapers serving the Kitsap region.”

Sound Publishing produces seven newspapers in Kitsap County: the Bainbridge Island Review; North Kitsap Herald, Kingston Community News, Central Kitsap Reporter, Bremerton Patriot, Port Orchard Independent and Kitsap Northwest Navigator.

Sound Publishing is the largest publisher of community and suburban newspapers in Washington and one of the area’s largest commercial Web printers.

Saloutos ’09 on sale now

Photographer and islander Pete Saloutos follows up last year’s “Lisa and Friends” calendar with a 2009 version, on sale now.

This year, the acclaimed shooter returns to natural landscapes for his subject matter, including vibrant woodlands and dramatic desert canyons.

Always mindful of health and fitness, Saloutos has earmarked the proceeds for the construction of a new steam room for the Aquatic Center.

“Lots of folks on the island can’t afford physical therapy, so this is an inexpensive alternative,” he said in an e-mail.

Look for copies at the Aquatic Center and Eagle Harbor Book Co. See more information about Saloutos at www.petesaloutos.com.

City wades into budget
