Too many mistakes plague Bainbridge in 33-7 loss to North Kitsap

It's the first time since 2003 that the Vikings have defeated the Spartans.

POULSBO - The Bainbridge football team had its chances, but too many turnovers and penalties were the Spartans' downfall as they lost to rival North Kitsap 33-7 Saturday night at North Kitsap

Stadium in Poulsbo.

After a mistake filled first quarter by both teams, the Vikings took advantage of a Ross Cobb fumble to score a one yard touchdown.

Another turnover a few minutes later led to another one yard score.

Bainbridge finally got it going on its next drive as Jason Haley and Anthony Carter hooked up for a 51-yard pass play.

Five plays later, Kyle Szarzynski scored from one yard out.

But on North Kitsap's next drive, Taylor Chisholm took advantage of a defensive lapse to score on a 51-yard touchdown pass.

Chisholm scored from five yards out in the third quarter after another Spartan turnover while kicker Zach Sampson added two field goals from 36 and from 40 yards to round out the scoring.

Bainbridge travels to Vashon next Friday.
