Driver in highway crash arrested for DUI
One of the drivers in Monday's traffic-snarling two-car crash at the Agate Pass Bridge has been arrested for driving under the influence.
Andrew Page Smith, 32, of Poulsbo was arrested for DUI and booked into the Kitsap County Jail Monday. He faces charged of driving while impaired and vehicular assault.
Bail has been set at $30,000.
The State Patrol said Smith was driving a Ford F250 pickup north on Highway 305 when he allegedly sideswiped a 2013 Hino box van as he approached the northern end of the Agate Pass Bridge.
Smith kept going, then crossed the center line of the highway and hit a 1996 Saturn head-on just on the other side of the bridge.
The driver of the Saturn was identified as Allan C. Wodensheck, 24, of Bremerton.
The State Patrol said Wodensheck was injured in the crash and he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The Ford pickup and the Saturn were both totaled in the collision, the State Patrol reported.
Billy J. Kelly, 49, of Port Orchard was behind the wheel of the box van and was not hurt in the accident.
The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. Monday.
Traffic on the highway was jammed for nearly four hours Monday and the bridge was closed shortly after the crash.
