Highway 305 accident near casino leaves traffic mess

A multiple-car accident near the Clearwater Casino on Highway 305 has resulted in a traffic nightmare for commuters heading north on Bainbridge Island across Agate Pass Bridge Monday.

Traffic has backed up to Day Road from the bridge, and drivers are seeing little movement.

Details on the accident, which happened just before 8 a.m. Dec. 16, were initially sparse. At least one person has been taken to a local hospital, but no fatalities were reported.

Jody Matson, a spokeswoman for the Poulsbo Fire Department, said travelers on Highway 305 will face a rough commute.

"Highway 305 is tough; traffic is backed up," Matson said.

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department is reporting on its Facebook page that a light pole is across the highway near the bridge and traffic may be delayed for an hour or more.
