The show will go on: Island group gathers enough money for fireworks display

The Fourth of July is the biggest holiday on Bainbridge and islanders like to exit the event with a bang.

After many generous contributions and the accumulated collections from donation jars around town, Bainbridge Island Fireworks has raised enough money to put on the annual fireworks show over Eagle Harbor this year.

The fireworks display will begin at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, July 4 to close out the day's festivities.

Spectators can tune into 1600 AM around Eagle Harbor to listen to music synchronized to the display.

But the event won't entirely be finished Thursday night. Fireworks organizers are inviting people to help pick up trash and any fireworks debris at Pritchard Park at 9 a.m. Friday, July 5.
