Beans now a music venue
It used to be Books, Bagels and Beans, but now its Bagels and Beans... with music.
The coffee shop at the Village on High School Road, now dubbed Bagels and Beans, has its grand opening the week of May 23-27, under the new ownership of John and Lisa Williams who took over in January of this year.
We want to have a place where you can come relax, Lisa Williams said.
The space has been completely renovated, and the Williams hope to have local musicians play occasionally from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights when the shop stays open until 10 p.m.
Tonight, the opening act will be the acoustic duo of Tania Opland and Mike Freeman playing hammered dulcimer, guitar, violin, cittern, Native American flute and percussion in songs of many languages and countries. Other musicians are scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, too.
Lisa says the café hopes to serve people living in the High School Road area or be a place for students to hang out after school.
The café is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and closed Sunday. Call 842-4050 for more information.
