Tryouts for select fastpitch
The 14U Bainbridge Blazers fastpitch softball team is looking to add players for the 2005 season.
If you are interested and were born after Dec. 31, 1989, come to tryouts from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 26 at Strawberry Hill Park.
The 2004 team completed a very successful first year at the 14U level and will be fielding a highly competitive team this next season.

Classes open up for junior rowers
The Bainbridge Island Rowing Club begins its fall season for all interested juniors, ages 13-18. Newcomers are very welcome.
Practices are Monday through Thursday, from 3:15-5:30 p.m. starting on Sept. 8 at Waterfront Park near the tennis courts.
Parents are encouraged to attend the first day of turnout. Fees are to be determined. All rowers will need to complete a registration form, medical release and a float test before rowing.
Required forms are available on Sept. 8 or online at www.bainbridgerowing.org. Rowing is a great lifelong sport with many recreational and competitive opportunities. Information: 842-3919.
Girls hoops league seeks new players
Girls basketball league: Western Washington Girls Basketball League is accepting applications from girls teams of sixth and seventh graders and eighth and ninth graders through Sept. 3.
Games begin Sept. 12 with 16 contests to be completed before Thanksgiving.
Cost is $200 for teams without access to a gym and $100 for teams with a gym, plus referee fees. Information, registration: Jack Horishige, 855-9237.
Red Storm blows into town
Red Storm Baseball, a select baseball team for players 16 years old, is looking for motivated players for a fall ball program as well as the 2004/2005 regular season.
For eligibility, players may not turn 17 prior to Aug. 1, 2005. Any players interested in playing for a traveling, competitive team and willing to learn should contact Dave Beckon at (360) 697-1517.
10K Blackberry run and hike
Co-sponsored by the BI Land Trust and Island Fitness on Sept. 11, registration for the run is 8-9 a.m. and begins at 9:15. Meet at Island Church, 9624 Sportsman Club Rd.
