Spring is just around the corner and the Bainbridge Island Farmers Market is preparing for another season in the sun with local produce and goods.
The island’s farmers market returns to the town square from April 13 through Oct. 26.
As always, the weekly event will offer the eclectic bounty of Bainbridge Island, however, officials are expanding the market this time around.
“We’re hoping to enhance the diversity of our offerings at the market this season,” said Tim O’Brien, manager of the Bainbridge Island Farmers Market.
The market is looking to add new vendors to its lineup, but that’s not all.
It also seeks demonstrators such as chefs to feature recipes utilizing local foods.
Local authors are also welcome to take their books to the market. Farmers market officials have an open mind and are hoping to incorporate plenty of new features and attractions.
“We hope to have a showcased demonstration at every farmers market Saturday throughout the season,” said Carol Rolph, a farmers market board member and vendor. “We love our chef demos and book authors but would love to incorporate new demos with local artists, crafters, quilters, farm demos, apple pressing, tree pruning and more. I want to get creative with our local community and see what we can come up with.”
