Bainbridge Island to ask for input on search for new police chief

Bainbridge Island will host a public forum next week to get input from islanders on the search for a new police chief.

The forum will be held in council chambers from 6 to 8 p.m.  Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The city hired the firm Strategic Government Resources last month to lead in this search. The Texas-based firm — which also led the search to find Bainbridge Island's new city manager — will facilitate the forum. Residents will be able to share their thoughts and give feedback on what qualifications and attributes are desired in the next police chief.

“It’s very important to me that SGR hear directly from island residents about the qualifications and characteristics desired in potential candidates,” said City Manager Doug Schulze. “The consultants will then use this input when developing the police chief position profile.”

People who are unable to attend the forum can submit suggestions and feedback via email to cityadmin@bainbridgewa.gov. The comments will be forwarded to SGR for their review.
