Congratulations Pete the Heat

It was with delight, but no surprise that a friend emailed me a copy of the story detailing the commendation of bravery recently awarded to your Cst. Pete Berndsen. Pete served for many years in Vernon where he acquired the nickname “Pete the Heat”, and his antics are still the stuff of legend. All good stuff though, as the guy doesn’t have a bad bone in his body, just a bunch of very funny ones.??

?? I had the pleasure of working with him as a Youth Probation Officer for many years and was always appreciative of the extra time he would take with so many of our difficult young offenders. The difference that made in their attitudes and outlooks was remarkable and usually quite lasting. In my 30-year career I have?known a lot of great cops, but I have to think that McBride?probably has the best if doing paperwork etc isn’t counted in the voting.

Congratulations Pete, you’re an inspiration to us all. How great it is to hear that even after 30 years you’ve lost none of your?caring or zest for life.
