Curt Winston of Seaborn Road announced Monday he will run for the City Council's South Ward seat.

The 24-year island resident said he has the "time and the knowledge" to tackle the council position soon to be vacated by Councilman Jim Llewellyn, who will not seek reelection.

Winston said he has been a longtime watcher of local government, attending city meetings "since Winslow was arguing about a waterfront park."

No one else has officially announced a bid for the South Ward seat, although retired military officer Robert Dashiell is considering a run.

The deadline to file for candidacy for the Bainbridge council is this Friday.

See this Wednesday's issue of the Review for more information on Winston's candidacy.
