Bainbridge Island man killed in motorcycle crash
June 9, 2008 · Updated 2:02 PM
A 24-year-old Bainbridge Island man was killed over the weekend in a motorcycle accident near Murden Cove.
Mark Daniel Edwards was pronounced dead by emergency responders early Saturday morning. He was found lying in the bushes wearing a motorcycle helmet.
Bainbridge Police said Edwards was traveling westbound on Manitou Beach Road late Friday night when he failed to make a turn, causing his motorcycle to leave the roadway and strike a telephone pole.
Neighbors reported hearing a speeding vehicle in the area between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday night.
Though the investigation isn't finished, police said speed and alcohol may have been a factor.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 842-5211.
