Washington approves legalizing marijuana

November 6, 2012 · 9:52 PM

Washington's voters were saying yes to legalizing the use of marijuana for personal use in early vote returns Tuesday.

Initiative 502 was approved with 56 percent voter approval, well ahead of the 44 percent in opposition.

I-502 licenses and regulates the production, distribution and possession of marijuana for citizens over the age of 21. Marijuana sales will also be taxed if the proposal passes.
