Appleton takes lead in race for District 23, Position 1

The votes are in and Sherry Appleton is in line to keep her seat as a representative of Washington's 23rd Legislative district.
Appleton, a Democrat running for re-election to Position 1, has 60 percent of the vote in the first vote tally.
Her opponent, Republican Tony Stephens, had amassed 39 percent of the vote.
Appleton, a former two-term Poulsbo City Councilwoman, has held her seat in the state House of Representatives since 2004.
