The effects of Hurricane Sandy may be on the other side of the country, but relief can come from anywhere — even Bainbridge Island.
The island's Four Swallows Restaurant is holding a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
"We didn't expect to do it, but we are trying to put something together to help out," said Alexandra Sharp of Four Swallows.
The restaurant will donate 20 percent of the proceeds it takes in for dinner service on Wednesday, Nov. 7 to Habitat for Humanity. Servers will also be donating a portion of their tips. Dinner service begins at 5 pm.
But the restaurant's donation isn't the only benefit for the cause, or the only attraction.
"We are going to have a silent auction that will include mostly wine," Sharp said.
Eagle Harbor Wine Co. will be donating wine for the auction. Local islanders will also be donating bottles from their private collections to the auction.
Sharp recommends that diners make a reservation for no later than 9 p.m. Wednesday.Contact Bainbridge Island Review Staff Writer Richard D. Oxley at firstname.lastname@example.org or (206) 842-6613.
