Commodore bomb threat prompts brief evacuation
June 9, 2008 · Updated 1:55 PM
The words "bomb threat" scratched into the paint of a Commodore Options School bathroom stall forced a brief evacuation and search at both Commodore and Bainbridge High School Thursday afternoon.
A sweep of the schools revealed no suspicious activity and classes resumed.
Bainbridge High School Principal Brent Peterson said a Commodore student reported finding the message in the restroom and the schools followed protocol by calling 911 and scanning public areas.
Students were evacuated at 1:15 p.m. and classes began again at 1:45 p.m. after staff members searched their work areas and found nothing amiss.
Peterson said the schools and the Bainbridge Police Department assessed the level of risk based on its timeliness and the specificity of the threat.
"In consultation with police we decided this fit into the lower end on the scale of our assessment," Peterson said.
The schools and police will continue to investigate the incident.
