The city of Bainbridge Island is holding an open house to showcase the municipal court in Rolling Bay.
“We invite members of our community to come see their new and improved court, which is now one of the most safe and secure in the state,” said Judge Kathryn Carruthers.
An open house and tour of the courthouse is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. Refreshments will be provided.
The building has undergone a series of improvements and upgrades over the past year to make if function better as a court.
Security cameras, doors, ventilation, bulletproof glass and the addition of a separate holding area for in-custody defendants are among the new features of the building.
“Thanks to generous donations from the Bainbridge Island community, significant improvements have been made to the court facility at Rolling Bay which greatly enhance the safety, security and health of our visitors and employees,” Carruthers said.
