Doug Schulze has been asked to be the next city manager of Bainbridge Island.

By unanimous vote in an open session called after hours of closed-door interviews and talks Wednesday, the Bainbridge Island City Council approved the job offer for Schulze, one of three finalists for the position.

Schulze comes from Normandy Park, where he is also city manager. He was the only candidate of the three under consideration in the council chambers awaiting the council's decision Wednesday night.

The council will discuss, and possibly approve, the contract for Schulze on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
