Burn ban established for Kitsap County
September 15, 2012 · Updated 10:44 AM
The Kitsap County Fire Marshal announced an outdoor burn ban Friday.
The ban includes all outdoor fires and will go into effect on Saturday, Sept. 15.
A burn ban was previously imposed in August, but recreation fires were still allowed. With the heightened risk of wildfires in the county, however, the updated ban will no longer allow recreational fires.
Charcoal, gas or propane barbecue grills are allowed under the ban, but county fire officials ask that people use them with extreme caution.
The Bainbridge Island Fire Department has more information on the current burn ban.
