Forbes still hovers at 49 percent in Superior Court judge race
August 10, 2012 · 7:59 AM
Jennifer Forbes is still below the mark to win outright the race for Superior Court Judge Court Position 7.
Forbes, a Poulsbo attorney and former prosecutor, needs more than 50 percent of Tuesday's Primary Election vote to be declared the winner.
In Thursday's updated tally, Forbes had 49.02 percent of the vote.
Bainbridge Island attorney Karen Klein was second in the four-way race, with 19.3 percent of the vote.
If Forbes doesn't pass the 50-percent mark, the pair will square off for the judge's job in the November election.
A total of 45,369 votes have been counted so far, and Kitsap County Election officials estimate another 6,200 ballots will be counted before the election is certified as official.
Forbes has collected 22,238 votes so far; Klein has 8,787.
Rob MacDermid had 7,672 votes in the latest tally, or 16 percent of the vote; candidate Bill Houser picked up 6,377.
