Investigation of 122 fire wraps up, lightning cited as likely cause
July 12, 2012 · 5:21 AM
Lightning was the likely cause of the fire at The 122 Bar and Restaurant, Bainbridge Island Fire Marshal and Assistant Chief Luke Carpenter said late Wednesday.
Carpenter said investigators have completed their investigation at the building at 241 Winslow Way, which was destroyed in a two-alarm fire in the early morning hours on July 9.
The investigation did not discover an exact cause of the blaze, but Carpenter said a lightning strike was the likely source of ignition and arson has been ruled out.
Bainbridge Island Fire Department investigators were assisted by members of the Bainbridge Island Police Department; Suquamish Police Department; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
