Drivers were left stranded at the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal during one ferry run on the morning of Saturday, April 28 after a person with a life-threatening medical condition was taken aboard the 9:35 a.m. ferry and the vessel left without loading additional travelers.

Washington State Ferries spokeswoman Joy Goldenberg said Olympic Ambulance was transporting a Category 1 (very critical) patient to the mainland, but a medical airlift was denied because of the weather.
