Pedestrian killed while walking on Highway 305

A pedestrian walking on Highway 305 south of Poulsbo was struck and killed by a driver from Bainbridge Island just after 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The pedestrian, according to the Washington State Patrol, was intoxicated and was walking down the centerline of the highway and then stepped into the southbound lane near Seminole Road, where he was hit by a 2001 Honda CR-V driven by Micah O'Halloran of Bainbridge Island.

The State Patrol did not identify the pedestrian, but police said the victim was a man in his 30s.

O'Halloran, 54, was not injured in the accident.

The highway was closed in both directions during the State Patrol investigation. The road was reopened at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday.
