An early morning fire in a Verizon cell tower north of Totten Road is creating major delays this morning as a portion of Street Route 305 in Suquamish is closed while crews wait for materials to secure the tower.

The fire started around 4:00 a.m., according to city officials.

SR 305 is closed between Lemolo Shore Drive and Noll Road, and will remain closed until approximately 3:00 p.m., according to the most recent Washington State Department of Transportation estimate.

Construction crews wait on a crane from Kent and secure the tower.

Traffic is being re-routed through Lemolo Drive. City officials report a sizable back-up in both directions.
