Islander Ed Viesturs tops Mount Everest for the seventh time

Islander Ed Viesturs has summited Mount Everest for the seventh time in his renowned climbing career.

Viesturs, the first American to climb all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter mountains, reached the summit early Tuesday morning, Nepal time.

His exploits have been chronicled in the FirstAscent blog. He has also been writing about his climb in the GreatOutdoors.com blog.
