Debbi Lester, former mayor and proclamator extraordinaire, celebrated her 50th birthday at the newly renovated Waterfront Park Community Center with a crowd of friends and family from on and off island. Here all are assembled for a community portrait.

Powered by the funk band, “Mutha Knows Best” the dancing started at 6:30 p.m. and went all the way to 10 p.m. only cut short so the band wouldn’t have to catch the midnight ferry ... way past our bedtimes! The night ended with the “Nimble Bs” (her son Corbin Lester and his friend Nathaniel Beuchler) rapping a hip hop song written in Debbi’s honor.

So what’s next, Debbi?  “I’ll get back full-time to my magazine Art Access and advocating for the arts!”
