Battle Point Park will host a Youth Fly Fishing Expo later this month.

Do you have a young person you would like to introduce to fly fishing or have them get some practice in prior to heading out to fish this spring?

Bring those budding fishermen to Battle Point Park between noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19 for the Youth Fly Fishing Expo at Battle Point Park. The group will gather at the north end of the park near the parking lot. There will be fly tying and fly casting clinics, fish and stream biology education and a surprise gift followed by fishing in the pond.

Rods, flies and materials will be provided. The cost is $15 for youth ages 6 to 17; parents are free and must accompany children 6 through 13.

The event is sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District, Trout Unlimited Kitsap/Olympic Peninsulas, Bainbridge Island Fly Fishers and Peninsula Outfitters.

To register, or for more information contact the parks district at 206-842-2302.
