Winslow insurance office to host joint art, music show

The Paula Weissinger State Farm Agency (175 Parfitt Way SW, Suite No. 180, next to Pegasus Coffee) will feature Donna Lee Dowdney, fabric and mixed-media artist, and Vin Chawla, Bainbridge Island musician, in a joint exhibition-concert during the First Friday Art Walk on July 6.

There will be an artist’s reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Complimentary light refreshments will be served.

Chawla plays acoustic covers of songs in the bluegrass, country, rock and folk genres, primarily from the ‘70s and early ‘80s.

Island-based artist Dowdney is a member of the Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network.

“Fabric art takes me on creative journeys,” she said. “I capture the moment by embellishing nature-inspired themes on fabric and by using free-motion embroidery and surface design techniques to reveal light, movement and color. There’s no limit to nature’s inspiration.”
