Things get robotic this Wednesday at Westside Pizza

Hold the anchovies — but add high-powered flywheels, JAVA programming and Talon SRX motor controller.

Westside Pizza is gearing up for a restaurant takeover this week, with the Bainbridge High School Robotics Team 4915 as the beneficiaries.

Spartronics, BHS’ winning team of high tech warriors, will be serving friends, family and customers in the evening and will also show off ARES, their latest 120-pound competition robot.

The takeover at Westside Pizza is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Proceeds from the entire day will go to supporting Spartronics and STEAM education on Bainbridge Island.

“Pizza is America’s favorite food, according to a Harris Poll, and people love seeing robots and STEAM education in action just as much,” said team spokesman and Spartronics Co-Captain Jon Coonan. “We want to encourage Bainbridge Islanders to bring the family and make Dec. 7 their Pizza Night.”

Spartronics Team 4915 is part of FIRST – For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology – a worldwide nonprofit organization that provides robotics programs for students K-12.
